1. Headlight Recall: Tesla is recalling over 20,000 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles due to excessively bright low-beam headlights exceeding federal safety standards. 18,735 Model Y units (2020-2023) and 1,614 Model 3 units (2017-2023) are affected. Tesla sought an NHTSA exemption which was denied in July. Owners will be notified by mail starting September 15th.
2. Cybercab Robotaxi Launch: Tesla announces an invite-only Cybercab event in Austin on September 3rd, with a livestream available. The Nevada Transportation Authority also approved Tesla to deploy up to 5,000 robotaxis in Clark County (Las Vegas) over the next 12 months.
3. Software Updates: Tesla’s 2026.26 Summer Update is rolling out globally with Google Meet, Teams, Discord integration and Caraoke. About 15-20% of vehicles have received it. New 2023 Model X vehicles in the Netherlands are shipping with FSD Supervised pre-loaded.
