Good evening, this is your Tesla Daily Update for Wednesday, August nineteenth, twenty twenty-six.

Today’s top Tesla news begins with a major product milestone. According to a report from The Information, Tesla has told employees it is preparing a public launch of the Cybercab in Austin as soon as this month. The Cybercab would be the first Tesla vehicle ever built without a steering wheel or pedals, marking a defining moment for the company’s autonomy roadmap.

Next, a concerning incident in Austin. A Tesla Robotaxi running with no safety monitor onboard drove straight through a row of bollards protecting a closed-off lane, then kept driving. The video surfaced Monday, less than a month after the company described its Robotaxi launch as impeccable. The episode highlights the real-world gap between controlled demos and unsupervised deployment.

In commercial vehicle news, Swedish freight company Einride is putting five hundred Tesla Semis on United States roads, the largest public commitment to Tesla’s electric truck to date. That will take Einride from roughly two hundred fifty deployed electric trucks to seven hundred fifty, a meaningful tailwind for Tesla’s heavy-duty program.

Tesla also grew its national self-driving Robotaxi fleet by roughly fifty percent through a regulatory filing, expanding the operational fleet size significantly in a single move and accelerating its commercial scaling push.

Finally, an interesting community story. A Tesla owner reports that a do-it-yourself upgrade to Hardware four was straightforward, raising fresh questions about why Tesla itself has not retrofitted the millions of vehicles originally sold on the promise of full autonomy but lacking the necessary hardware.

Looking at the market reaction, shares edged slightly lower. Tesla closed at three hundred thirty-six dollars and eighty-seven cents, down about two dollars and forty-three cents or zero point seven-two percent from the previous session at three hundred thirty-nine dollars and thirty cents. The modest move came on a busy news day with mixed signals from the autonomy and commercial-vehicle fronts.

That’s all for today’s Tesla update. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s news.
