Good morning, this is your Tesla Daily Update for Saturday, August twenty-second, twenty twenty-six.
Because markets are closed for the weekend, today's edition focuses on the latest verified developments from Friday and the most recent trading session.
The biggest story is regulatory action in China. Tesla is recalling about two million seven hundred forty thousand vehicles to strengthen driver monitoring for its assisted-driving system. Regulators concluded that checking only for a hand on the steering wheel is not enough to confirm that a driver is watching the road. The software remedy will require use of the cabin camera to monitor driver attention more directly.
A separate and even larger China recall covers about two million nine hundred seventy-six thousand vehicles over emergency door-release design. Regulators found that the release can be difficult to locate and operate after a crash. These actions may overlap across parts of Tesla's fleet, so the figures should not simply be added together. Still, the two cases highlight rising scrutiny of both assisted-driving safeguards and unconventional door controls.
In the energy business, Electrek reports that Tesla has discontinued its Solar Roof tiles and will continue offering conventional solar panels. The reported reason is economics: the integrated roofing product remained difficult to supply and install at a viable cost. The move narrows Tesla's residential solar strategy around a simpler product.
Tesla also confirmed that the Semi electric truck is coming to Europe. Specifications and launch details are expected at the I A A Transportation show in Hannover, Germany, next month. A Semi will be displayed there, giving fleet customers a closer look at Tesla's plans for the European commercial-vehicle market.
Looking at the market, Tesla shares rallied sharply in Friday's session. The stock last closed at three hundred sixty-two dollars and eighty-six cents, up seventeen dollars and seventy-three cents, or five point one-four percent, from Thursday's close of three hundred forty-five dollars and thirteen cents. That is a strong one-day gain, but investors should separate market momentum from the operational and regulatory questions raised by the day's news.
The weekend takeaway is mixed: Tesla is expanding its heavy-truck ambitions, simplifying its solar offering, and facing significant safety-related remedies in China. Execution, regulatory compliance, and clear timelines remain central to the company's next phase.
That's all for today's Tesla update. Stay informed, drive safely, and join us again for the next edition.
